📌Here are a couple pieces that we’d like to highlight:
If you are unfamiliar with Rethink Priorities’ Moral Weight Project, we found the 80,000 Hours podcast interview with Bob Fischer as a helpful intro to the series!
Sometimes wild animal welfare (WAW) can feel intractable, so it was a helpful to learn about different approaches to introducing WAW into policy. Read Wild Animal Welfare in Local Policies on Land Use and the Built Environment.
The Small Body Problem: Challenges and Considerations for Animal Advocates, is a helpful reminder that smaller farmed animals, such as chickens, fish, and insects, must be killed in much greater numbers to gain the same amount of nutrition. This has implications on our work as advocates.
And highlight these great opportunities:
Conference on AI, Animals, and Digital Minds (organised by us, IAA and endorsed by Peter Singer) will take place June 3. Learn more and express interest in attending.
Founding to Give, new pre-incubator program by Ambitious Impact (Charity Entrepreneurship), will help launch high-growth companies to donate to high-impact charities. Apply by April 12.
Tiny Beam Fund is now accepting applications for their Burning Questions Fellowship and Research Planning Grant programs. Apply by April 24.

How do different protest tactics and messaging strategies affect attitudes towards animals?
Survey results confirm disruptive animal rights protests can have initial negative impacts on public attitudes. While prior research indicates these effects are temporary, it’s possible that consistently using less favorable campaigns and messaging could compound over time.
